Using the Outcast bucket will provide opportunities to increase production by increasing availability and reducing cycle times.
Reduced maintenance provides an opportunity to increase availability. The performance during the twelve-week trial indicated a reduction in on-site bucket maintenance of around 50 hours per annum per loader. The reduction in on-site bucket maintenance was achieved even though only 36% of the conventional bucket maintenance is assumed to occur on-site versus 100% of the Outcast bucket maintenance.
The Outcast bucket can reduce cycle times by:
- reducing the time to fill the bucket due to reduced penetration resistance; and
- reducing the time to empty the bucket because the material will slide easily across the bucket surface with no hang-up.
The Outcast bucket can also be used to increase the ore carrying capacity of the loader rather than reduce weight. The maintenance cost saving would remain about the same and it is estimated that at least 70% of the fuel cost saving would be retained.
